W A X

When my good friend and colleague Ampersanderson contacted me to let me know about WAX, a new project he was working on, I was eager to support it and I thought it may be of interest to some of you... especially those of you who surf. WAX is a new print publication about surfing, art and culture in and around New York City and it is launching in May 2012. The publication, conceived of and edited by graphic designers David Yun and Zak Klauck, and writer Aeriel Brown, will feature art work by prominent New York artists who share a connection through the surfing community." “The idea is to make a publication that speaks directly to the surf set found here, in New York, and in the future, to other urban surf spots,” says editor David Yun. “There seemed to be a huge hole in what was offered in terms of print magazines for surfers out there, especially for East Coast surfers,” says Aeriel Brown. “A lot of what’s out there speaks to a younger, mostly male audience. We kept looking for something that was more inclusive with a broader scope — something that took into consideration not only the wide range of people who surf, but also the wide spectrum of interests those people have.” To find out more about WAX, visit there site. And, if you are moved to, support them on Kickstarter. I just did. Can't wait to get the first issue and the tote bag!
